Chosen Concept.
From here, the direction was narrowed down to a concept that incorporated a linear form that weaves its way through the planar form of the bench seat; creating a light and airy feeling while still conveying a sturdy and inviting seat.

Concept Refinement and Dimensioning
Referencing the Measure of Man and Woman by Henry Dreyfuss.
CONTINUOUS 3x1 FORM WEAVING THROUGH SEAT TO CREATE ARMS AND FOOT BAR.
JOINERY HOLDING SEAT UP AT 4 STURDY POINTS.
WIDER SEAT INCREASES COMFORT AND INCLUSIVITY FOR DIFFERENT BODY TYPES
FOOT BAR ACTS AS A TRANSITION FROM LEFT GEOMETRIC CONFIGURATION TO THE RIGHT CREATING ONE CONTINUOUS FORM.
Dimensions and measurments.
Referencing the The Measure of Man and Woman by Henry Dreyfuss.
Using proportions from The Measure of Man and Woman to create blueprint for first round prototyping.
Full Scale Prototype
To get a final understanding of form, tension on joinery, and dimensions, a quick mock up was created by laminating 2x4s with the planer and jointer and assembly based off initial blue prints.

CAD Modeling & Rendering
Inserting the refined measurements into a model in Fusion 360 to check the adjusted proportions of the form before going into the final model.
Final Model Build Process
Using a planer and jointer to prepare lumbar into 1x1" rods for laminating. I then cut these rods down to desired measurements.
Laminating and sanding each section of stool before assembly.
Assembling the joinery of the sanded pieces,
using a speed square and clamps for accuracy and sturdy curing of the wood glue.
